No.436 Squadron was ordered to move their operations from Akyab Island to the coast of Ramree Island in April 1945. A man named F.L. Denison was piloting a C-47 KN210 and was carrying a load of bricks to supply the squadrons in order to build ovens. The aircraft could barely maintain altitude during the flight due to the weight of the bricks being miscalculated. By now the leading aircraftman (L.A.C) Art Adams had spotted a Japanese seaplane on a beach below them. Someone suggested to throw get rid of some bricks and that’s when Art started to throw bricks down at the seaplane. This was the first and only t ime bricks has be used to bomb the enemy in war.
